Dropped 911

In the evening of January 2nd Quadra RCMP received a dropped 911 from a residence on Quadra Island. Officers attended and spoke with the homeowner who mistook her phone for a remote. Officers confirmed the call was not an emergency before leaving.

Suspicious occurrence

On January 3rd, a complainant advised that an employee reported a suspicious incident with their work vehicle. Apparently, the employee advised they had parked their company truck before Christmas and returned later and located the vehicle in a different spot, seat re-positioned, and the radio turned up. Only the employee and the manager had keys. Oddly enough video surveillance showed the vehicle parked and didn't move until the vehicle was picked up by the employee who drove it. The matter appears to be unfounded at this time. 

Theft of boards 

On January 10th, Quadra RCMP received a report of a theft of two sandwich boards. The boards were stolen sometime between January 5th and January 6th. The boards have are described as being 3ft x 2ft tall with blinking lights and have "Mainroads" name and info on them. If these are located please call Mainroads or the Quadra RCMP at 250-285-3631. 

Assist Department of Fisheries and Oceans 

On January 11th, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) requested the Quadra RCMP assist with enforcement at the Heriot Bay Ferry Terminal. Multiple vehicles were checked without issue. However, one vehicle was flagged as it was clearly over the allotment of clams. After speaking with the occupants, it was determined that there was no valid reason to have that volume of clams and the extra amount was subsequently seized. The individual responsible was charged and released with a court date. DFO are leading the investigation. 

Traffic complaint

On January 12th, Quadra RCMP received a report of a traffic incident on Cortes Island that occurred the previous day. The complainant advised that she was driving along Gorge Harbor Road when she was almost hit head on by a vehicle who was trying to pass a big truck. The incident is still under investigation.

False 911

On January 13th, Quadra RCMP officers were called to a dropped 911 in the North end of the Island. On the call, only static was heard. Officers attended and it was confirmed the 911 was a result of the bad weather and all was well.
