North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP investigating two unrelated assault with weapon incidents

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Detachment is investigating after two separate stabbing incidents, which occurred on December 28th and 29th, 2023.

The first assault occurred on December 28th, 2023, at 6 p.m., when frontline officers were called to a business in the 119 block of the Trans Canada Highway for a report of a stabbing.

When police arrived, they found an 18-year-old man tended to by a witness. The man was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The assault occurred during an altercation between the victim and the suspect.

Witnesses described the suspect as a Caucasian, male 5’7 tall, brown/blonde coloured hair, wearing a black toque, black puffy jacket, fleeing the scene. The suspect is possibly known by the name Keenan.

The second assault occurred just after 7:20 p.m., on December 29th, 2023, when frontline officers responded to a report of an assault at the Tim Hortons on 166 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC.

Witnesses reported seeing several people instigating a physical altercation with another man outside the store, with one of the suspects possibly having yielded a knife.

When officers arrived, all suspects had departed the scene. No victims were identified or located.

Officers are continuing their investigation into both incidents.

Both incidents are believed to be separate and isolated, with no risk to the public.
