File # 2021-18721

On May 27, 2021, frontline members of the PG RCMP received a report that a male driver was slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle for several hours. Members attended the location on Damms Road and located the vehicle. The driver exhibited signs of impairment by drugs and police observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Investigators arrested the male and seized drug paraphernalia and over $130,000 in cash. Police issued the 30-year old Vancouver man a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded. Police have commenced a Proceeds of Crime investigation, which is ongoing.

The investigator will also be connecting with the Civil Forfeiture office. The Civil Forfeiture Office, which is a part of the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, targets the proceeds and instruments of unlawful activity. The Civil Forfeiture Act allows the director of the Civil Forfeiture Office to commence legal proceedings against property linked to unlawful activity. The money is re-invested in B.C. communities in the form of crime prevention grants and compensation to eligible victims, states Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

The Prince George RCMP continues to target those in the community who are profiting from the sale of illegal drugs.

If you have any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
