File # 2021-25276
Shortly after 11:00 a.m. on July 10, 2021, a frontline member of the Prince George RCMP was on patrol near 17 Avenue and Victoria Street when he noticed a vehicle with no insurance. The police officer conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle. This investigation led the member to arrest the male driver for Possession of a Controlled Substance. A search after the arrest located a replica handgun behind the driver’s seat and ammunition in the vehicle.
Police discovered that the male driver, 42-year-old Chilliwack resident Leo Jospeh George, was in breach of his court ordered conditions not to be driving a vehicle and not to possess any firearms or ammunition, states Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.
Investigators transported Mr. George to the Prince George RCMP Detachment to attend a bail hearing. The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges against Mr. George:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Order
- Fail to Comply with Probation
Mr. George is back in the community on a Release Order until his next court appearance.
