Break and enter suspect caught

At 7:00 p.m. on July 11, 2021, the Prince Georg RCMP received a call for assistance from a resident living on the 4200 block of Cowart Road. The homeowner stated there were two unknown males on his property trying to break into an outbuilding.

Frontline members immediately attended the location and discovered an outbuilding with a broken lock. Police also discovered a second outbuilding had a broken door. The homeowner confirmed some items were missing from the second building.

A Police Dog Services team attended the location of the Break and Enter, and the Police Service Dog was able to successfully locate one of the suspects as he attempted to cross Highway 16. The Police Dog also located a back pack nearby that matches the one seen on the suspect in video surveillance from the residence. The second suspect was not located, states Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.

Police identified the male as 29-year-old Prince George resident, Stephan James Sherman. Mr. Sherman remained in custody until he could attend court. The B.C. Prosecution Service approved the following charges:

Police are familiar with Mr. Sherman. He will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
