Impaired driving investigation underway after two-vehicle collision

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on July 25, 2021, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 16 W and 20 Avenue. Frontline members responded immediately to the area and learned that one of the vehicles was an unmarked police car with a police officer and a mental health nurse inside. The car belongs to the Car 60 program, which operates in partnership with the Prince George RCMP and Northern Health.
Thankfully, no one suffered serious injury in the collision. The Mental Health Nurse and the Police Officer went to hospital for assessment of their injuries. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition for impairment by drug and was released without further process, pending the full results of the investigation, states Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.
Frontline members and police officers from the Municipal Traffic Services unit spoke with witnesses at the scene. If anyone further witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage of the collision, they can contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 to speak with an investigator.
