File # 2022-4531

During an unrelated investigation, the Prince George RCMP located and recovered two firearms previously reported as stolen.

On February 7, 2022, while investigating a separate matter at a residence on the 1900 block of Strathcona Avenue, Frontline police discovered several insecurely stored firearms. Upon further investigation, police discovered two of the firearms were reported as stolen. Police also seized some prohibited firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

Being able to take firearms away from those individuals known to police for causing harm in our city is a good day for a police officer. It’s made that much more satisfying when we can return stolen property to its rightful owner, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media spokesperson for the Prince George RCMP.

The investigation is ongoing.

Prince George RCMP reminds all gun owners to make sure their firearms are securely stored and locked. For more information on the safe storage of firearms, please visit our National website.

If you have any information about this or any other criminal offence, please contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-8477 or online at www.northernbccrimestoppers.ca (English only). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers. If you provide information that leads to an arrest or recovery of stolen property, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
