RCMP in Midway executed a search warrant in the rural area of Beaverdell following the discovery of a clandestine laboratory used for the production of shatter, a chemically concentrated extract from cannabis.

In early 2024, Midway RCMP initiated an investigation into a possible shatter clandestine laboratory on a rural property in Beaverdell, BC. As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the property. The search occurred on March 27, 2024.

Due to the hazardous nature of the property, the RCMP Federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) team and Forensic Identification Section (FIS) were mobilized to assist, mitigate and disassembled the lab, said Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia.

The investigation is ongoing and police continue to gather evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Midway RCMP at 250-449-2244 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
