Investigation into a report of an explosive device at a local school determined the report to be false.

On February 14, 2023, at 10:45 a.m., the Quesnel RCMP responded to a report of a possible explosive device at McNaughton Centre in Quesnel. School staff followed safety protocols and quickly evacuated the school for the safety of the students and staff, while police investigated the report with the assistance of the Quesnel Fire Department. Thanks to the staff of the school for ensuring all the students were safe, said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch of the Quesnel RCMP. We would also like to thank the staff of the Royal Canadian Legion who assisted with providing students with a safe location while police investigated.
